Profile
Why they matter
Serhii Kupriienko co-founded Swarmer in 2023 and runs it as global chief executive. He came to drone autonomy from consumer AI: after a master’s in computer science from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, he spent years leading research and computer-vision engineering teams at Amazon’s Ring smart-doorbell unit in Ukraine, then headed AI at a smart-camera R&D firm before founding Swarmer.
At Swarmer he applied that edge-AI background to one of the front line’s hardest problems — the shortage of trained drone pilots — building software that lets a single operator command a swarm. In March 2026 the company became the first Ukrainian defence-tech firm to list on the Nasdaq exchange under the ticker SWMR . Kupriienko is notably frank about the technology’s limits: he has said publicly that battlefield computer-vision target recognition is not yet mature and that automatic target identification is not yet used in the field, keeping a human operator in the loop on every engagement.
