Robert "Madiar" Brovdi

Robert Brovdi, widely known by his call sign Magyar, is a major in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the founder of the drone unit known as Magyar’s Birds. He was named Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, the branch responsible for coordinating drone operations across the armed forces. In 2025, he was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine.

As the head of Ukraine’s dedicated Unmanned Systems Forces, Brovdi leads the organisation directing drone strike operations at a moment when Ukrainian units are reporting sharply rising strike rates against Russian positions — 76.5 percent more infantry engagements in the first five days of October 2026 than two months earlier.
