Alexander Sladkov, born in 1966 near Moscow, trained at the Kurgan Higher Military-Political Aviation School and has reported for the state broadcaster VGTRK since 1993. He broadcast from Grozny during both Chechen wars and was wounded in the leg covering the 2008 war in Georgia. His Telegram channel carries some 700,000 subscribers.

Alexander Sladkov was born in Monino, in the Moscow region, in April 1966 and graduated from the Kurgan Higher Military-Political Aviation School in 1987. He joined the Rossiya television channel in 1993 as a correspondent for the Izvestiya programme and has reported for the state broadcaster VGTRK since.

He broadcast from Grozny during the fighting of January 1995, March and August 1996, and January 2000, and was wounded in the leg on 9 August 2008 while covering the Russo-Georgian war. Since 2014 he has reported from the occupied territories of Ukraine. His channel, Sladkov+ , carries around 700,000 subscribers.

In December 2022 he was named to the presidential working group coordinating Russia’s mobilisation, alongside other war correspondents. He is under sanctions, and is listed in Ukraine’s register of propagandists.
