The WarDog is a multi-role fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Roboneers, a Kyiv-based defense technology firm founded in 2014. Designed for real-time reconnaissance and communications relay, the platform addresses the need for resilient aerial assets in GPS-denied environments. The system is currently fielded by Ukrainian military units, including the 47th Mechanized Brigade “Magura” and other formations engaged in the conflict against Russian forces.
The WarDog operates with a tactical radius of 10 kilometers and an operational ceiling of 1,000 meters. It achieves a maximum speed of 68 kilometers per hour and carries a payload capacity of 3 kilograms. The airframe weighs 6.5 kilograms and is built to withstand climatic conditions ranging from -20°C to +40°C, with protection against high humidity and dust. Two primary variants are offered: the Scout, optimized for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) with a 45-minute endurance, and the TRN, which functions as a repeater carrier with an extended flight time of 60 minutes. The system utilizes a 2.4 GHz digital video and control channel for communication and control. A key technical feature is its ability to conduct real-time aerial reconnaissance during GPS loss or jamming, operating effectively in limited visibility, dense construction zones, and at night.
Roboneers supports the WarDog with proprietary software tools to enhance operational readiness. The “Shadow” simulator allows operators to train in high-fidelity environments that replicate real terrain, physics, and mission scenarios before deployment. Additionally, the company provides “NeoLens,” an AI-powered maintenance intelligence tool that guides field teams in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the unmanned systems using official technical documentation.
The WarDog is part of Roboneers’ broader portfolio of multi-domain unmanned systems, which includes the Lynx unmanned ground vehicle and the Saber remote weapon station. The company has sought to scale production through partnerships, including a joint production agreement with German firm ARX Robotics. Ukrainian operators have integrated the WarDog into their tactical workflows to provide aerial situational awareness and maintain communication links in contested electronic warfare environments.
