The Sirko-S1 is an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) developed by the Ukrainian defense firm UkrSpecSystems, specifically through its Skylab division. Introduced in 2024, the tracked platform is designed to operate in high-threat environments where human presence is too dangerous. The vehicle serves multiple logistical and tactical roles, including the transport of ammunition and supplies, casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), and reconnaissance. Its modular design allows for the integration of various payloads, ranging from standard logistics modules to specialized military equipment such as remote weapon stations or demining systems.

Technically, the Sirko-S1 is built on an open systems architecture, facilitating the rapid integration of new hardware and software components. The vehicle features an electric drive system, which provides a low acoustic signature suitable for covert operations. It is equipped with a suite of sensors for situational awareness, including a thermal imager, a laser rangefinder, and a high-resolution camera. Communication is handled via an encrypted datalink, which operators state ensures jam-resistant control and surveillance capabilities. The platform can travel up to 2.5 kilometers under extreme operating conditions. In its standard configuration, the Sirko-S1 weighs 80 kilograms and can carry a working load of 130 kilograms, with a maximum capacity of 200 kilograms. This payload capability has enabled engineers to mount heavy modules, such as the TROPIYA remote demining system, which uses a rocket-propelled charge to clear minefields from a distance of 100 to 150 meters.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have deployed the Sirko-S1 to frontline units, with the Azov Brigade receiving the platform to support operations in the Donbas region. The vehicle is used to evacuate wounded soldiers, thereby reducing the exposure of medical personnel to enemy fire. It also supports logistics by delivering food, medicines, and ammunition to forward positions. The Ministry of Strategic Industries has highlighted the vehicle’s role in preserving combat effectiveness by shortening evacuation times. While specific production numbers are not publicly disclosed, the platform has been field-tested in combat conditions, including engagements where similar Ukrainian UGVs have engaged Russian armored vehicles at close range.

Development of the Sirko-S1 was expedited to meet urgent battlefield demands, with the initial prototype reportedly taking six months to build. The system’s versatility is demonstrated by its ability to switch between logistics, CASEVAC, and specialized roles like demining. The integration of the TROPIYA system, as demonstrated in late 2025, expands the vehicle’s utility in clearing paths for infantry and armored vehicles through mined areas. The Sirko-S1 represents a shift in Ukrainian military doctrine toward the use of robotic platforms to mitigate personnel risks in static and high-intensity combat zones.
