KRIP-A is a Ukrainian artillery fire-control and battle management system developed by Antabos , one of several domestic software efforts that emerged from Ukraine’s need to network reconnaissance drones, command posts and howitzer crews faster than legacy call-for-fire chains allow. The developer positions it as a national-scale C4ISR layer for the artillery arm — a single environment where a target spotted by a drone or forward observer can be passed to a battery, a firing solution generated, and the shoot corrected, without the delays of voice traffic and paper plotting.

At the technical heart, KRIP-A is software rather than a hardware kit — the platform is whatever ruggedised tablet, laptop or command-post workstation the crew already runs. Antabos says the system handles reconnaissance-to-fire tasking, ballistic computation, ammunition tracking and after-action reporting, and that it is designed to interoperate with the NATO family of fire-support systems: the American AFATDS, German ADLER, French ATLAS, British BATES, the joint ODIN suite and Poland’s TOPAZ. The developer reports that units using KRIP-A cut ammunition consumption by roughly 30% and need about five times fewer ranging rounds before effect — figures that, if accurate, matter as much for a shell-constrained force as any range or rate-of-fire improvement.

The system has been fielded by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the war with Russia, and sits alongside other domestically-developed tools such as Kropyva, the tactical-mapping application widely used at battalion level, and GIS Arta, the artillery management system Ukrainian sources credit with much of the accuracy improvement seen in the war’s first two years. The three are complementary rather than competing: Ukrainian battery commanders describe using multiple platforms in parallel depending on unit and mission, and KRIP-A’s specific niche is the higher-level automation of the fires cycle across formations rather than the single-battery tablet.

Independent verification of the exact figures is limited — the ammunition-savings and ranging-round claims come from the developer, and combat-effectiveness reporting on individual Ukrainian fire-control systems has been thin in the open press, partly by design. What is clear is that Ukraine has treated software of this class as a strategic asset, iterated it in wartime and pushed for NATO-standard interoperability so allied ammunition, guns and targeting data can flow through it without adaptation. KRIP-A is one of the more recent additions to that stack, and its trajectory will be worth watching if Ukrainian fires software finds buyers among European armies now rebuilding their own artillery arms.
