EIRSHIELD is an ultra-short-range air defence system developed by DefSecIntel Solutions, designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and loitering munitions. Introduced in 2022, the system was built to address the specific lessons learned from the conflict in Ukraine, where the proliferation of cheap drones exposed gaps in traditional air defence architectures. The platform integrates radar, radio frequency (RF), electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR), and acoustic sensors with AI-assisted command and control (C2) to provide a layered defence capability. It is capable of soft-kill effects through RF and GNSS jamming, as well as hard-kill interception using dedicated interceptor drones.
The system’s architecture is defined by its open, plug-and-play design, which allows for the integration of third-party sensors and effectors into a common operating picture. At the core of EIRSHIELD is its C2 middleware, which fuses data from multiple disparate sources to reduce false alarms and accelerate decision-making. This software layer enables the system to manage complex environments with lower operator burden, automating the kill chain from detection to interception. The hardware is mounted on mobile platforms, allowing for rapid deployment in demanding environments, including harsh weather and difficult terrain. The system is designed to be scalable, supporting both static protection of critical infrastructure and mobile defence for border security and military units.
EIRSHIELD has been deployed by several nations in Eastern Europe, including Estonia, Latvia, and Ukraine. Its combat experience in Ukraine has been cited by the manufacturer as a key driver for its operational validation and NATO certification. The system is marketed as a solution for defence forces, border authorities, and critical infrastructure operators seeking to restore sovereignty of the skies against asymmetric aerial threats. By combining detection, classification, and neutralization in a single vehicle-based unit, EIRSHIELD aims to provide a cost-effective and rapidly deployable counter to the growing threat of drone swarms and autonomous aerial attacks.
