Vigil Autonomy Air Cover: four-drone flying canopy to mask vehicles from thermal and SAR sensors

Published

US company Vigil Autonomy has presented Air Cover, a concept in which four drones hold a specialised fabric canopy over a vehicle or infantry element to reduce its signature to thermal imagers and synthetic-aperture radar on satellites and ISR UAVs. The company claims up to two hours of airborne operation; the canopy can alternatively be mounted on poles as a static shelter. Dimensions, weight and cost have not been disclosed. The developer acknowledges the shroud covers primarily from above and does not conceal targets observed from oblique angles.
