Ukrainian drones strike Cameroon-flagged Nadezhda in Black Sea, wounding four crew

Published

Two Russian milblog sources — citing AIS track data and the vessel’s captain — confirm a drone attack on the cargo ship Nadezhda (IMO 7702657, Cameroon flag) as it transited from Samsun, Turkey toward Novorossiysk on 2 August. The captain reported 6–7 drones in the strike, which ignited a fire and wounded four sailors including three Turkish nationals. Ukrainian military intelligence had previously added Nadezhda to a sanctions register over alleged grain shipments through Russian-held Berdyansk, suggesting deliberate target selection driven by intelligence records rather than opportunistic targeting.
