Ukrainian drones reach St. Petersburg 1,000 km deep, hitting hospital building on Vasilyevsky Island

Published

Ukrainian drones struck St. Petersburg on the night of 17–18 October, with two aircraft penetrating to Vasilyevsky Island — one reportedly impacting the Zapadny Skorostny Diametr highway bridge, another striking a building housing a narcology hospital at 5th Line, causing roof damage and broken windows across neighbouring structures with no fatalities reported. Serhii Beskrestnov noted that the strike required 1,000 km of flight through four Russian regions defended by layered air defence and EW, carried out by UAVs flying at up to 200 km/h rather than cruise missiles.
