Ukrainian drone kills one at Zaporizhzhia NPP workers' bus stop, derails IAEA inspection

Published

On 18 August a Ukrainian drone detonated at a bus stop in Energodar regularly used by Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant staff, killing one person and wounding 15, three of them seriously. The plant director described it as the worst incident the facility had faced. IAEA Director-General Grossi’s planned inspection for 20–21 August was cancelled; Russian foreign ministry sources claim Ukraine’s side told his team it could not guarantee his safety, while the IAEA condemned strikes on nuclear-facility personnel.
