Ukraine fields Protector cargo UGV in 100-unit contract; first vehicles destroyed near Orekho

Published

Russian milblogger Two Majors reports Ukrainian forces near Orekho actively using Protector ground robots for logistics and bulk cargo transport, with each vehicle rated for a 1.5-tonne payload. The National Guard received a first batch of ten units in August 2026 and a second batch in September under a reported 100-vehicle contract. Footage circulated showing Russian drone operators destroying Protector UGVs, framed as evidence that conventional armoured logistics vehicles have been substantially displaced by unmanned platforms on heavily-droned axes.
