Taiwan awards $1.45 M AI satellite-imagery contract to ThinkTron for real-time PLA monitoring

Published

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense awarded a $1.45 million contract to domestic company ThinkTron on 25 September for an AI-powered satellite imagery analysis system intended to support continuous surveillance of PLA activity. The system is designed to process imagery covering up to 100 km² in minutes, automatically detecting changes in military dispositions or equipment movements. The contract is part of a broader Taiwanese investment in AI-enabled intelligence tools to compensate for geographic proximity to the mainland.
