Su-35 penetrates Ukrainian airspace over Sumy for first time in years — no intercept response

Published

A Russian Su-35 briefly entered Ukrainian-controlled airspace over Sumy Oblast, launched a Kh-59/69 cruise missile at Sumy city, and returned to Kursk Oblast without interception, according to foreign monitoring channels cited by a Russian source. Analysts interpret the incursion as a deliberate test of Ukrainian air-defence readiness; the absence of any response is assessed as indicating Ukraine currently lacks PAC-2/3 interceptors in the region, or had no fighter coverage aloft at the time.
