Russian 'KVN' FPV drones carry microphones for acoustic pre-visual target acquisition

Published 28 September 2026

Russian FPV drones of the ‘KVN’ series carry integrated microphones that stream live audio alongside video to the operator. In ambush scenarios, operators can hear approaching vehicle engine noise before the target appears on camera, allowing the drone to be released and intercept moving objectives before they come into visual range. The capability was documented in footage from the 24th Special Forces Brigade in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
