Geran fitted with onboard EW module that blinds pursuing Ukrainian interceptor drones

Published · updated

Footage analysed by Rybar shows a Geran loitering munition activating an onboard electronic-warfare suite against a Ukrainian drone-interceptor in pursuit, flooding the interceptor’s video feed with static and ending its tracking run. The same analysis maps a broader platform evolution: current Geran variants can carry and deploy FPV sub-drones, act as communications relay nodes, deliver cargo or conduct psychological operations, and — with the new EW module — actively suppress the UAVs sent to destroy them. Russian milbloggers note that Ukrainian forces have openly acknowledged a rise in effective Russian strikes since Geran-4 and the expanded-role variants entered service.
