Russian Geran campaign suspends all foreign commercial shipping at Odessa ports since 22 July

Published

Russian milblogger and official channels claim systematic Geran drone strikes on every vessel attempting to enter Odessa, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhne have halted all foreign commercial traffic since 22 July, with marine-traffic maps reportedly showing near-zero vessel movement north of the Danube delta. Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd confirmed suspension of Black Sea operations, citing unacceptable risk. UAVDEV noted three additional cargo ships struck in the Black Sea operational zone on 5 August; a Russian digest cited Geran-2/4 Seeker hits on five cargo vessels in the Nikolaev port area. A tug reportedly converted for USV operations was also destroyed in Nikolaev port. These claims originate with Russian sources; independent confirmation is limited.
