Russian EW team claims passive detection of Starlink terminal uplink near 9,500–9,600 MHz

Published

A Russian UAV development channel, flagging the result as preliminary, claims a domestically developed EW module can passively detect Starlink ground terminal uplink transmissions at approximately 9,500–9,600 MHz. The stated frequency sits in X-band and does not match Starlink’s published Ka/Ku-band uplink allocations, leaving open the possibility of interference products, harmonic detection, or imprecise frequency identification. If substantiated, passive detection of uplink emissions would give Russian forces positional awareness of Starlink-linked drone operators and relay stations without triggering the countermeasures that active jamming typically provokes.
