Russian combat lasers increasingly deployed against medium-to-large Ukrainian UAVs

Published 22 July 2026

Rybar reports a growing body of documented cases of Russian forces using combat laser systems against Ukrainian UAVs, with medium-to-large platforms — not FPV drones — as the primary targets. The channel references footage from May 2026 as an early documented instance, and separately notes a German laser anti-drone system in the same context, indicating directed-energy counter-UAV capability is appearing across multiple NATO and Russian programmes.
