Russian analysis: X-band AESA radars give mobile fire groups 30–40 s to engage FPV drones

Published

A Russian milblog (Boris Rozhin) examines compact drone-detection radar options for mobile air-defence teams. The benchmark cited is the Western APS FIELDctrl family: X-band active phased-array units with no rotating parts, able to detect targets with a radar cross-section below 0.01 m² — including FPV-class drones — at 3–5 km range, providing 30–40 seconds of actionable warning. Russian domestic equivalents already in field use or production are identified as the Repeynik, Volna (variants 30 and 40), and Enot/Enot-SD radar complexes.
