Russia's Gerbera drone evolves from cheap foam decoy into 10 kg warhead strike platform with GNSS hardening

Published

Originally dismissed as an expendable radar lure assembled from foam, plywood and a small Chinese piston engine, the Russian Gerbera has been systematically upgraded into a credible strike system. Strike variants now carry cameras and remote targeting guidance; the enlarged Gerbera-2 mounts a 10 kg warhead, with reports now indicating an added incendiary payload. The engine, fuel reserve and satellite navigation protection have all been overhauled, turning what began as a diversionary tool into a distinct low-cost strike threat operating alongside the main Geran jet-drone family.
