Russia's Gerbera-2 upgraded to 1,200 km range with Kometa-M12 nav and Chinese mesh modem

Published

Ukrainian intelligence has characterised a recovered Gerbera-2 airframe as a significantly upgraded variant with range extended to 1,200 km and endurance reaching 10 hours, now carrying a warhead. Physical measurements show a 2.6 m fuselage, 3 m wingspan and 63-litre fuel tank; the drone incorporates an updated Kometa-M12 navigation system, a Chinese mesh modem and observation cameras. Analysts identified 22 foreign-sourced components from the United States, China, Ireland, Switzerland, Taiwan and the Netherlands. The upgrade marks a shift for the Gerbera line — originally employed as a decoy — toward a credible ISR and strike platform despite sanctions.
