Russia confirms serial laser anti-drone systems; one unit downs ~60 UAVs/month

Published

Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov publicly confirmed that ‘an entire lineup of laser systems’ is now operational at industrial facilities, saving ‘hundreds of millions of roubles’ in SAM expenditure. A Russian defence-engineering source with reported industry access corroborated the statement, noting the systems are already in production runs rather than prototype stage; a single unit accounted for nearly 60 downed UAVs in one month, with the cumulative fleet total running considerably higher. Officials acknowledged lasers cannot fully replace conventional SAMs but represent a significant complement for static-site defence.
