Russia adapts Alazani anti-hail rockets into guided anti-drone SAMs at ~1M rubles per round

Published

A Russian channel reports Russia is modifying 82 mm Alazani anti-hail rockets — rated to 10 km range and 8 km altitude, fired from 12-round launchers — into guided surface-to-air munitions for drone interception. The projected price of approximately one million rubles (~$11,000) sits above cheap Pantsir point-defence rounds such as TKB-1055 Gvozd but well below 9M335 (Pantsir) or 9M338K (Tor) SAMs. The approach repurposes an existing production line already supplying agricultural cloud-seeding services, making scale-up relatively straightforward.
