Poland confirms it transferred operational S-200 batteries — not retired stock — to Ukraine

Published 24 July 2026

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz officially confirmed at a 6 July 2026 briefing that Poland delivered S-200 surface-to-air missile systems to Ukraine. Russian defence commentary clarified that the transferred systems were active, operational Polish batteries rather than attempts to restore decommissioned Ukrainian stocks, and that these systems were used to shoot down a Russian A-50 AEW aircraft and a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber.
