PLA publicly fields robotic ground platform armed with HJ-73 anti-tank missile

Published

China’s People’s Liberation Army debuted an unmanned ground vehicle carrying an HJ-73 anti-tank missile at combat exercises in northwest China — the system’s first public appearance. The HJ-73’s 3 km range ordinarily forces crews close to the forward line; mounting it on a robot allows covert advance to a firing position, launch, and withdrawal without exposing personnel. The move extends the service life of an aging missile while field-testing the unmanned integration model ahead of future systems.
