Pakistan Navy fires anti-ship missile from Chinese-built Hangor submarine for first time

Published

Pakistan’s Navy conducted its first anti-ship missile launch from a Hangor-class submarine during trials in the northern Arabian Sea, marking a new operational threshold for the fleet. The Hangor design is derived from China’s Type 039B: a diesel-electric AIP vessel using a Stirling engine, 76m long with 2,800t displacement. Under a 2015 agreement, China is supplying eight of the class; the lead boat is now weapons-certified.
