Pakistan deploys up to 40,000 troops to Saudi Arabia for drone and missile interception

Published

Between 30,000 and 40,000 Pakistani troops have been transferred to Saudi Arabia in successive waves since last year, assigned to defend the kingdom’s land borders and intercept drones and missiles. Russian milblogger sources tie the deployment to the regional escalation following recent events. Pakistan has not committed these forces to offensive operations in Yemen; the contingent is described as performing a purely defensive role.
