Northrop Grumman wins $3B deal to become second PAC-3 and THAAD interceptor motor supplier

Published

The Pentagon awarded Northrop Grumman two seven-year framework contracts totalling $3 billion: $2 billion to produce solid-fuel motors for PAC-3 Patriot interceptors and $1 billion for THAAD. Adding Northrop as a second PAC-3 motor supplier alongside incumbent L3Harris is intended to reduce single-source fragility; the US aims to triple PAC-3 output to 2,000 rounds per year and quadruple THAAD production by the end of the decade.
