New Russian 'Iva' MANPADS spotted in Rostov Oblast, resembles Chinese QW-18 series

Published 30 September 2026

A previously undocumented Russian shoulder-launched air-defense missile system named ‘Iva’ has been photographed with a mobile fire team in Rostov Oblast. Only the name and a 4 km stated range have been disclosed; no official Russian release has accompanied the sighting. Based on visual appearance and stated performance envelope, the reporting channel flags a strong resemblance to China’s QW-18A or QW-19 MANPADS — continuing a documented pattern of Chinese-origin short-range air-defense hardware appearing in Russian units.
