Lockheed Martin and US Army test GMLRS in-flight retargeting to engage moving targets

Published

Lockheed Martin and the US Army have successfully demonstrated mid-flight coordinate updates for GMLRS rockets launched from HIMARS, enabling the round to alter its trajectory and strike a moving target. The update was transmitted via a Strigo communications link using RIG-360 technology. Lockheed Martin is evaluating the same approach for Extended Range GMLRS and the Precision Strike Missile. The test used a prototype configuration; no timeline for integration into production-standard munitions has been announced.
