Large Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow region closes three airports; 57 UAVs downed

Published

On the night of 28 October a large-scale Ukrainian drone strike on the Moscow region forced flight restrictions at Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports, diverting at least two inbound international flights. Moscow Mayor Sobyanin claimed 57 UAVs were intercepted before reaching the city. Ground-level reports described explosions near Naro-Fominsk (56 km from the Moscow ring road) with no audible drone noise overhead, and successive blasts in the direction of Kaluga Oblast. Russian official figures for the full day recorded 90 Ukrainian drones downed across Russian territory.
