KNDS Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0 debuts unmanned turret, cuts crew-exposure volume 30%

Published

Reporting on Eurosatory 2026, a Russian engineering channel describes the KNDS Leopard 2 A-RC 3.0, which replaces the conventional three-man turret with an unmanned one and relocates commander, gunner, and driver side-by-side into a protected hull compartment. An autoloader removes the fourth crew member entirely. KNDS states the redesign reduces occupied internal volume by roughly 30% while keeping overall mass within 62 tonnes. The main gun is a 120 mm smoothbore with provision to upgrade to 130 or 140 mm.
