German defence group KNDS is developing an unmanned tracked self-propelled howitzer pairing the LORAS 155 mm automated turret with remote control and autonomous operation. Claimed range exceeds 60 km with standard projectiles and potentially 80–100 km with specialist munitions, though both figures require test confirmation. KNDS identifies the central engineering challenge not as range but as full vehicle autonomy — independent navigation, fire-mission execution and continued operation under communications loss or EW jamming without crew intervention.
