Japan sanctions 33 Russian firms targeting UAV, EW and radar production

Published

Japan introduced its first Russia sanctions package since September 2025, listing 33 companies and nine individuals with a stated focus on the defence-industrial base: UAV manufacturers, artillery-ammunition producers, shipboard-engine makers, and firms active in radar, navigation and electronic warfare. Several Turkish and UAE intermediary companies were also designated. Russian analyst channel Rybar characterises the package as Tokyo leveraging its drone-technology cooperation with Ukraine to apply additional economic pressure on Moscow’s military-industrial sector.
