Iran publicly displays captured Anduril Dive-LD AUV; Russia flags autonomous undersea shift

Published

Iran has released photographs and footage of a captured Anduril Dive-LD autonomous underwater vehicle, the system’s first public appearance after seizure. Russian channel Rybar used the disclosure to highlight what it frames as a structural shift in maritime autonomous warfare from surface drones toward AUVs, identifying Anduril as the lead Western actor in that transition after its UAV sales to Ukraine and subsequent move into underwater systems and light cruise missiles (the Barracuda, cited as a Western analogue to Russia’s Banderoль/Dan’). Rybar assesses that Anduril’s UAVs largely dropped out of Ukrainian frontline service after initial procurement due to high unit cost and slow delivery cycles.
