IISS: Russian fibre-optic FPV drones at ~40 km range threaten Suwałki corridor transit

Published

An IISS assessment cited by a Russian engineering channel concludes that Russian fibre-optic FPV drones — assessed at roughly 40 km operational range and resistant to radio jamming — can threaten the 65 km-wide Suwałki Gap from both flanks without any territorial seizure. Combined with missile strikes, remote mining and road/rail sabotage the channel argues Russia could sustain interdiction pressure sufficient to significantly degrade NATO reinforcement throughput into the Baltic states, reframing the corridor as a contested zone rather than a firm land bridge.
