IAI/ELTA Point@Air aerostat lifts radar to 1,500 m for counter-drone coverage

Published

IAI subsidiary ELTA has unveiled the Point@Air tethered aerostat, which carries the ELM-2083A multi-function radar at altitudes between 300 and 1,500 m. Operating continuously for up to 30 days and redeployable to a new position in under an hour, it provides 360° or sectored radar coverage that defeats low-altitude terrain masking. The radar can simultaneously track hundreds of targets and pass fire-control data directly to ground-based air-defence systems, giving interceptor batteries persistent below-the-horizon cueing against slow or low-flying threats including Geran-class drones.
