Germany plans to buy hundreds of Ukrainian Bars 1,000 km cruise missiles for the Bundeswehr

Published

A Ukrainian-German joint venture producing the Bars cruise missile at a facility in Germany is in negotiations to supply the Bundeswehr alongside Ukraine, according to a Financial Times report cited by multiple channels. A small initial batch could be agreed within weeks; Bundeswehr technical trials are planned for early 2027, with a potential follow-on order of several hundred missiles. The Bars is jet-powered, carries a stated 1,000 km range and up to 105 kg payload, and is classified as a “rocket-drone” in Ukrainian terminology and a low-cost cruise missile in German.
