German OWE 500+ strike drone study: MBDA Deutschland, Diehl, Helsing and Destinus consortium

Published

Images of what appears to be a German derivative of the OWE 500+ loitering munition—tentatively linked to MBDA Deutschland—have surfaced in the German defence press. The configuration features a reshaped nose, small folding wings, and a dorsal jet engine. Preliminary estimates place range at around 500 km, warhead mass near 50 kg, and notional unit cost at approximately €100,000 at production scale. The Bundeswehr study involves MBDA Deutschland, Diehl Defence, Helsing, and Destinus, with a concept of operations envisaging employment rates exceeding 100 units per day. MBDA has not officially confirmed the programme name or details.
