Geran strikes extend to Danube ferry crossing and second Moldova checkpoint

Published 25 August 2026 · updated 1 September 2026

Geran-2 drones struck the Orlovka ferry crossing on the Danube between Ukraine and Romania, temporarily suspending operations, while a separate strike hit the Vinograduvka–Vulkaneshty checkpoint on the Moldovan border. Ukrainian commentary notes that destroying a ferry link is substantially harder to route around than the road crossings at Tabaky and Reni hit in earlier strikes, amplifying the campaign’s logistics impact.
