Geran drones approach Polish border during western Ukraine strike, Poland scrambles jets

During a Russian overnight strike on western Ukraine, Geran drones flew into Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and Volyn Oblast, prompting temporary closure of border crossing points with Poland as the drones approached Polish airspace. Poland scrambled combat aircraft and raised air defence readiness. The incident is the closest a Geran swarm has tracked to NATO territory in the current reporting cycle, and illustrates the escalation risks inherent in long-range Geran routing through western corridors.
