Geran-2 drones mass-penetrate to western Ukraine exploiting bad-weather intercept gap

Published

Russian monitoring channels reported that on 14 October, older piston-engine Geran-2 variants — normally confined to near-border operations — sent dozens of drones deep into southern and central Ukraine toward western regions under adverse weather. Russian sources note that poor conditions severely degrade Ukrainian FPV interceptors and mobile fire groups, allowing slower legacy systems to penetrate far beyond their normal operational radius.
