Palantir ties Fedorov's defence venture, Nebius AI compute and ex-Yandex talent into one stack

Published · updated

Days after Palantir CEO Alex Karp invested in Fedorov’s new defence-tech company, Palantir announced a strategic partnership with Nebius Group — the AI infrastructure company built from the international division of Yandex under its former CEO Arcady Volozh. Nebius becomes Palantir’s preferred compute partner for ‘sovereign AI’, with its cloud infrastructure to be deployed inside Palantir’s Sovereign AI Operating System perimeter. Russian analysts Rybar and Barantchik both note that Nebius retains roughly 1,300 engineers — more than 1,000 in R&D — many of them former Yandex staff who relocated after 2022, giving Western defence-AI platforms structural access to a large established ex-Russian engineering workforce.
