Elbit Systems and Serbia open drone assembly plant near Belgrade

Published

Elbit Systems and Serbian state defence company Jugoimport SDPR have opened a joint drone assembly facility in the Šimanovci industrial zone roughly 30 km from Belgrade, with Elbit holding a 51 percent stake and approximately 100 workers employed. The plant is planned to assemble several Israeli UAV types including compact short-range systems and faster, higher-altitude variants with a ceiling above 6 km. Serbia already operates Hermes 900 reconnaissance-strike UAVs acquired from Elbit and reportedly signed a roughly 1.6 billion dollar deal in 2025 covering UAVs, long-range missiles and electronic warfare systems.
