Destinus Ruta B1 at 1,750 rounds produced in 2026; Block 3 extends range to 2,000 km

Published

Dutch manufacturer Destinus has produced 1,750 Ruta B1 cruise missiles in 2026 and plans a further 300, according to a Russian milblogger citing production figures. The company reportedly self-manufactures all key subsystems—engine, airframe, avionics and navigation. The Ruta B1 carries a 150 kg warhead, flies at approximately 980 km/h and has a range exceeding 300 km; a joint venture with Rheinmetall, Rheinmetall Destinus Strike Systems, is reported to be operating a plant in Unterlüss, Germany. A development roadmap includes a Block 2 variant (700 km range, 250 kg warhead, containerised launch, improved stealth) and a Block 3 (2,000 km, 250 kg), with Block 3 flight tests initially planned for 2027. The missiles have reportedly been delivered to Ukraine since 2024. Ukrainian industry media separately noted uncertainty over Rheinmetall’s continued role in the venture, though neither company has made an official statement.
