China's JK-1H laser-guided RPG-7 round extends grenade launcher to 2 km precision range

Published

Guangdong Hongda’s JK-1H, first exhibited at the Zhuhai Airshow in late 2024, adds semi-active laser homing and control fins to a standard RPG-7 or Type-69 grenade launcher. The 3 kg projectile (1.6 kg warhead) tracks a laser spot to engage targets at up to 2 km — an ATGM-class standoff range from a launcher already ubiquitous across the conflict zone. Russian commentary frames it as a cost-effective close-combat substitute for dedicated anti-tank guided missiles, noting that the designation laser can be held by a separate observer rather than the firer.
