China imposes individual-licence controls on dual-use drone and component exports to the United States

Published

China’s Ministry of Commerce published new export-control decisions on 5 August placing all dual-use unmanned systems — including key subsystems and associated technologies already on Beijing’s controlled-goods list — under mandatory case-by-case government review for shipments to the United States, removing any simplified licensing pathway. A simultaneous measure introduced restrictions on foreign software imports into China. The moves are described as part of a broader shift toward reducing China’s technology dependence and tightening control over critical dual-use sectors.
