Beskrestnov: mass cheap drones have displaced quality platforms as Russia's frontline doctrine

Published

Ukrainian signals analyst Serhii Beskrestnov (Flash) argues that drone warfare has shifted decisively toward mass production of cheap platforms over sophisticated ones. He cites Russia’s replacement of ZALA and Supercam reconnaissance UAVs with an estimated 50 cheap Molniya drones per unit as the defining transition — each Molniya is individually inferior but the volume generates more net battlefield effect. The same logic, he contends, now governs counter-drone interception, where cheap FPV-based interceptors are defeating Shaheds more cost-effectively than complex dedicated systems.
