Beskrestnov: mass cheap drones consistently outperform sophisticated ISR platforms in large-scale war

Published

Ukrainian OSINT analyst Serhii Beskrestnov (Flash), in an analysis circulated by Ukrainian analytical centres and translated into Russian, argues that mass employment of simple, cheap drones delivers greater operational value than quality-superior platforms in large-scale conventional warfare. His central example is Russia’s own shift from high-performance ZALA and SuperCam ISR drones to swarms of the much simpler Molniya: individually far inferior, but collectively more productive. The analysis is drawing attention in both Russian and Ukrainian drone development communities as a doctrinal framing of the cost-versus-mass trade-off.
